Description
for solo cello and optional singing/whistling at one part.
Commissioned by Music for Galway for CELLISSIMO with funds from the Arts Council.
From the composer:
Towards the end there is an optional part that can be sung or whistled. Preferably, you might sing it. A plain normal voice is all that is expected and in fact will yield more of the quality that is intended.
The text for this part is based on an extract from the first book of Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics:
For one swallow does not make a summer. So too one day does not make someone blessed and happy.
